Los rel\u00e9s PTE-4 protegen contra sobrecargas d\u00e9biles constantes, no influyendo las cargas variables ni las sobrecargas de corta duraci\u00f3n. Combinados con cartuchos fusibles de alto poder de ruptura se consiguen protecciones suficientemente eficaces, a un coste m\u00ednimo, cuando se trata de circuitos donde la potencia nominal es peque\u00f1a, para que puedan dar origen a sobreintensidades de cortocircuito muy elevadas.
